BVC July Newsletter
The BVC Newsletter is Back!
We’re happy to announce that the BVC newsletter is back and will be coming to you on the first of every month from here on out! For anyone not currently on our mailing list, we’ll be cross-posting each newsletter on the News page of the BVC website.
July & August Schedule
We hope you’re having some fun in the sun but when the heat is just a little too much or the weather turns rainy, we have a packed schedule filled with coached workouts for the rest of the summer!
- Mixed-Ability Workouts: Every Wednesday and Saturday evening. Like the name says, these are open to everyone no matter how fast you are. Our coaches tailor the difficulty to the level of the riders showing up.
- Structured Motorpacing: If you want something a little more challenging, everyone’s favourite motorpacing sessions are led by Daniel Fraser-Maraun every Friday evening
- Youth Mixed Ability Workouts: Perfect for youth riders of any ability level, these classes are led by Tom Baker and Daniel Fraser-Maraun every Wednesday
- Learn to Ride: Looking to get yourself or someone you care about started at the track? Learn to Ride sessions are available every Friday and Saturday evening. Summer is the best time to learn to ride the track and develop skills and comfort before our busy season in the Fall!
Sports Science Blog Series
Lighting fast track racer, physiologist, occupational fitness consultant, and PhD candidate Normand Richard will be writing a bi-monthly sports science blog series to separate fact from fiction for any sports science topics you’re interested in. This month we’re starting strong with a breakdown of the current state of wearables for tracking body temperature. You can find these on our News page or click the link below for this months edition!
Local-ish Track Races Happening This Month!
The Salish Summer Cup is happening on the last two weekends this month with the Marymoor GP at the Jerry Baker Velodrome in Redmond, Washington; and the Pacific GP at the Greater Victoria Velodrome Association in Victoria, BC. Both races have a total price pool of $10,000 up for grabs with an additional $2,000 for the overall Salish Summer Cup standings.
That’s all for now, see you next month!
