Welcome to fall and our 2022 velodrome season!
Racing is back in full force! Friday night racing is on with good turnouts with lots of new (and old) faces. Come join us on a Friday night to race or cheer us all on! Its getting spicy these days!
The Annual General Meeting was a great success. Thank you to all those who tuned in and participated. It has been a tumultuous 2 years with covid and we want to thank our previous board members who really worked hard to keep things going amongst all the craziness. With that, lets welcome the new board!
Your new president is Jean Boily.
Jean is your new head of the board(s) and is looking forward to making the track the best it can be in 2023! You can find him at the track working hard and soaking up the environment. He is a true trackie!
Cameron loves all things bikes and is an RMT in BBy. We are excited for what he will bring to the board(s)!
Bartlomiej (Tony) Sanak is your new secretary
“Tony” first tried the track in October 2020 and immediately loved it. Before the Learn To Ride was done, he had already purchased a track bike (he was hooked). He does great things on and off the boards and we cant wait to have his input.
Sarah Goomeshi-Nobary is a new member at large
Currently teaches first and second year university courses in biology at a college in Vancouver. She came to Canada from Iran in 2007. After living in Alberta for some years, she moved to Vancouver Island and then to Burnaby. Her love of cycling has always been a part of her life and joined the Burnaby Velodrome Club in 2017. She looks forward to serving as a member at large on the BVC board of directors.
Tom Baker is a new member at large
Tom is well intrenched in the ways of track. If you know the track, you know Tom. He loves working with his son and the youth at the track. He is an integral advocate for the boards. Thanks for serving Tom!
David Fenton is a new member at large
David brings joy to the boards and we are excited to have him as part of the team.
Marc hmmm, what to say about Marc. He is pure track passion. Find him there with a cup of tea and smashing pursuit intervals. He is wise in the ways of bike fit and loves to nerd out on all things bikes.
Uli is a staple of racing at BVC. He re found his love for racing in 2018 after a long hiatus. But wow is he fast and just an all around nice guy. He works for UBC and I for one am glad to have him on our board(s)
Andrew Carlberg
Andrew currently has the flying 200 record at BVC, so we would be amiss to not look for his wisdom in all things track. All joking aside, he is a huge part of making Jerry Baker velodrome what it is today, and if we can soak anything from that, we will be in the plus department. Thanks Andrew!
If you have a bike in storage but haven’t renewed your membership, please be advised that you will either need to renew your membership just follow the linkand purchase a track pass or pay the annual bike storage fee to leave your bike under that track. Bikes that have been left without an owner with either the track pass or storage fees will have locks removed and the bike will be sold or become part of the rental fleet.
Questions or comments – we would like to hear from you.
