Update on COVID-19 Race Calendar
Cycling Canada and Cycling BC announced further impacts on the domestic racing calendar due to actions to control the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cycling Canada, Ottawa: “In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Cycling Canada is extending the list of cancelled or postponed events to include everything originally scheduled on or before July 6. Our next recommendation concerning events scheduled beyond July 6th will be published on May 25th.”
“Cycling Canada is also working with the provincial and territorial cycling associations, supported by the guidance of health authorities, to support a progressive return to cycling activities when it is safe do to so. A more comprehensive communication will be developed and communicated to the cycling community in the coming weeks. In the meantime, please refer to the COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions on our website.”
Cycling BC, Burnaby: “In light of Cycling Canada’s most recent update and recommendations on domestic events, Cycling BC is also recommending that events scheduled up to and including July 6, 2020, be postponed or cancelled. Cycling Canada will be making another announcement on May 28th regarding events scheduled beyond this date.”
The BVC will continue to monitor and discuss a progressive return to cycling activities in line with the Cycling BC and the Provincial Health Officer orders.
