How long you have been riding velodromes, and the Burnaby Velodrome, how long you have been riding a bike:
Ok, storytime! I have been riding a bike since I was three, with a big focus on mountain biking. About seven years ago, I bought a basic single speed road bike and spent the whole summer exploring the region on it. That fall, a teacher at my school told me it looked like a velodrome bike. Having never heard that word before, I did some internet searching and found out there was a velodrome in Burnaby. Despite having a minor panic attack on the first lap I ever did, I was hooked! From that point on, I have been riding and racing at Burnaby, while making cycling and the community a bigger part of my life.
Something that you like about track riding or racing track:
Heckling Brendan on his moto attire (jk)
The community around the velodrome! I like meeting new people, learning their story and having really interesting conversations. I also like to learn about the experiences people have had on two wheels; they have undoubtedly influenced a few of my own adventures!
Goals/objectives with cycling:
In the words of Canadian icon, Hal Johnson:
“Keep fit, and have fun!”
Enjoy the competition and challenge, but also remember to step back and appreciate the joys of the sport.
